Tech Tip: Google Website Theme

Using this Tech Tip, I redesigned my theme for my Google website. Originally, it was just a black theme named "Slate." I decided to change it to a different theme called "Branches." I like the Branches theme better because I feel like it adds more to my site. I also believe like it adds more to the overall tone of the website and goes more with the quotes theme. I'm not sure how exactly to explain it, but I was wanting to give it a more "artsy-ish" feel without overdoing it.

Here's my updated site: Quotes Collection

Tech Tip: Google Website

I decided to create a google website using this tech tip! I've never made one before and didn't know it was an option but I'm glad I know now! The website I created is just for fun and it's called "Quotes Collection." I love quotes and they inspire me in more ways than one. So, I decided to make a place where I can put some of my favorite quotes in that way they'll be in one place. And, I can always go back to it if I'm ever looking for a particular quote. It's in a pretty rough stage since I just created it about ten minutes ago, so please bare with me as I eventually get it to how I want it to look! :)

Tech Tip: Quotemakers

I absolutely love quotes so naturally I decided to do this tech tip! Below is one of my favorite quotes from author Raymond Carver.

Tech Tip: Google Timer

Okay, this is so cool!

I never knew about the google timer but it definitely seems like a really useful tool especially when you're working on your computer. I use personally use alarms on my phone, which is kind of the same thing, in order to tell me when I need to get back to work. I'm the type of person who likes setting schedules and sticking to it. It helps me to keep my life in order. I think I will start making using of the google timer since I'm on my laptop a lot doing homework. This way I can easily switch back and forth on my tabs and see how much time I have left!

Tech Tip: Editing Pins

For this tech tip, I learned more about editing pins in my pinterest. I usually do just pin things quickly without much editing so it was nice to go back and look over my pins. I decided to change the description on a few including the ones below. I did this to help me organize better and add more detail to the pin. The first pin is of decor. I love black, white, and gold and I definitely feel like that's how much future home might look. The second pin is of fashion. I really enjoy pinning fashion inspirations. I feel like it expresses who I am better. The one I edited was of a fall inspired look. The last pin is of baby blue nails. I like the color and the rings just make it stand out more!

Tech Tip: Known Profile

For this Tech Tip, I edited my Known profile. Check it out! http://onlinemythindia.lauragibbs.net/profile/christineie

For my profile avatar I chose this simple picture:

I decided to choose this picture because I've always enjoyed the old school way of writing, before there was smart phones and laptops to type into. I still love the idea of sitting down and writing a letter to a loved one. I also really like how the fountain pen smoothly writes with the ink. It looks so clean and classy to me! Anyways, I usually try to write on paper as much as I type online and this picture reminds me to do one of my favorite things: write!

Tech Tip: Known Account

I created a Known account a few minutes ago and it's very new to me but still interesting! I haven't heard about Known until this class, but I really like exploring new websites so it's refreshing to find out about a new one through this class! I posted a quick status update on the site here: http://onlinemythindia.lauragibbs.net/2015/hi-there-just-posting-a-quick-comment-on-here-ive

Tech Tip: Pinterest Board

Pinterest is such a great website to pin ideas, thoughts, and create boards that are uniquely you! I've had my Pinterest for, I believe, around a year now and I love using it. It helps to encourage me to be creative in different aspects of my life and discover new, exciting things!

I've created a portfolio for this class and it's available here:

Tech Tip: Weather Widget

So...how about that weather?

On the right hand side I added a weather widget so that how it is outside can easily be known! My favorite type of weather is snow. (Which, I guess makes sense since my favorite season is winter!) Whenever it snows, my mood automatically shoots up. It reminds me of some of my favorite things: my childhood memories with my siblings, Christmas, spending time inside with my family, and..hot chocolate! As a matter of fact, writing about the snow is already making me excited for the winter time! Just a few more months.

On the other hand, my least favorite weather is 100%, most definitely, thunderstorms that produce tornadoes. Living in Oklahoma definitely has me used to expecting things such as tornadoes, but it only makes me dislike that type of weather even more! Regular thunderstorms are fine. Rain is great. Tornadoes? I could do without them.

Tech Tip: Sidebar Box

I recently just added a sidebar box to my blog! In the box, I included a quote from Julia Glass. I love quotes and loved getting this chance to one into my blog. Sometimes I feel like quotes speak exactly what I'm trying to say when I can't find the words to do it myself. They not only help me get through the days but I also believe with each quote, I learn a little more about myself!

Tech Tip: Blog Profile

For this Tech Tip I didn't really change much. I liked how mostly everything was already set up like the date and time format, etc. The only thing I did change is the location, which I usually do for most things. For some reason, I don't feel comfortable displaying my location unless it's absolutely necessary. So, I unchecked the box that said "Location" and hit save! When it comes to my online identity, I guess it really depends on what the site is. If I think it's a safe site, or has something to do with school or a job, I usually don't mind displaying the basics. I can definitely see my online identity becoming more open as I get older and venture out into the real world. Perhaps then, I'll turn my location on!

Tech Tip: Blogger Template

Hey guys!

So, I decided to switch up my blogger template on this great Monday afternoon. I basically based it off of three colors that I'm really liking at the moment: black, gold and white (which is also the color scheme of my room this year). It's simple and neat which is just how I like it. However, I can definitely see myself changing my blog up every once in a while because, truth is, sometimes I get bored with how I design things! There's a lot of options for the templates so I'm excited to try out different ones throughout the semester!
